Panasonic has revealed its new range of TVs for 2017, and there’s something for everyone from huge 4K and HDR OLED models to small HD LCD versions for around the house.
There are plenty to choose from, so here’s a quick run down of the new range. Remember, all the 4K models are HDR compatible – and with HLG. Also, Panasonic are only making flat TVs, the days of curve are numbered. And, as you might expect, OLED is here to stay.
HLG – or Hybrid Log Gamma to give it its full name – was developed jointly by the BBC and Japanese broadcaster NHK and became available towards the end of 2016. It allows HDR to be broadcast over the air, giving users the chance to watch the high definition format on their TV instead of via online services or Blu-Ray.
OLED remains a popular choice for viewers who want the best possible colour from their TV. The only technology capable of displaying absolute blacks and extreme whites on a per pixel basis, the innovative format is a great choice for those looking for an unparalleled viewing experience.
These cutting-edge OLED models feature Studio Colour HCX2, which delivers the most accurate colours ever witnessed on a consumer TV. This technology was previously only available on expensive professional monitors. The model is available in 65” and 55” versions.
These superb mid-range LCD TVs come in a range of sizes and Panasonic have found a way to limit the light and dark bleed areas so you get maximum contrast. The design also features a swivel and lift function, meaning you can easily adjust the height and angle.
The EX750 is the most impressive model in this middle tier range. The 58-inch and 50-inch versions boast the ‘Swivel and Lift’ function while the 65-inch screen can only be swivelled into position. The EX750 is also the only model in this range to support 3D TV.
A slight step down from the 750 but still with the great dimming tech so it’s capable of a wide colour spectrum and promises 90% of the DCI spectrum. There’s no swivel and lift function, but adjustable feet provide flexibility.
Panasonic TX-49ES500 / TX-40ES500 / TX-32ES500 / TX-24ES500
Great second TVs for kitchens or bedrooms and at a great price too. These TVs are LED LCD panels and full HD 1080p except for the smaller 32-inch models which are HD ready at 768p.
This range will be hitting the shops in June, so clear a space in your living room now to make sure you’re ready.
